How It Works
We make it as easy as possible to take your project from quilt top to finished heirloom quilt. The steps are below. Please know that your satisfaction is guaranteed - we want you to be absolutely delighted with the finished quilt. We are committed to checking in with you at each step, and are always available for questions. For details on costs click here.
1. Complimentary Consultation
Send us an email with the dimensions of your quilt, and a photo if you can. We'll chat about your quilt top, your ideas for it, and your budget. I will put together an estimate and a rough draft of possible quilting designs. If we decide we want to work together, you mail your quilt top to our studio in Missouri.

2. Hand Quilting Design
We have two options - you do the marking of the quilting design yourself, or we can do it for you. If you are not sure what design to use, we're here to help. We'll consider different quilting templates and lines of quilting, the age and era of the quilt top, who the quilt is for, the feeling you'd like to evoke, and more. You will be presented with several options from which to choose; we'll go with what you like the best.
3. Quilt Top Prep
and Batting Choice
After marking the design on the quilt top, we will prep the top for quilting: snip any stray threads, press the top and the backing, and generally get it ready. Minor repairs such as frayed seams can be repaired for $25/hour. We will send you an estimate before doing any work.

Your quilt does NOT NEED TO BE BASTED (yay!).
An estimated 50% deposit is required before any work begins. All invoicing is done through PayPal.
4. Your Quilt Top goes to the Quilters!
All of our quilters have been thoroughly vetted - each of them has finished at least two quilts or other quilting projects for us. All of the hand quilting is really, really beautiful.
Pricing for hand quilting is charged by the yard of quilting thread; the women keep track of of how many yards of thread they use as they quilt. We are currently charging $1.55/yard, all of which goes to the quilter. Click here to see examples of how many yards of hand-quilting went into some of our sample quilts.

5. Quilt Binding
Applying the binding is the last and final task to complete a quilt. Not everyone enjoys binding; fortunately we do, so if you prefer, we will happily sew the binding onto your quilt for you. You provide the fabric and we will create and attach the binding (we sew it on by machine and finish it on the back with hand stitching). We are also amenable to choosing and purchasing binding fabric for you.
